Hey, it’s Maria. So I’ve decided to write a page about myself, and even though I could be a qualified expert on the subject, this really isn’t as easy as it should be…

At 16, I’m well into my sophomore year of high school here in Long Island, New York. I was actually born in the Philippines but when I was three I emigrated to the States with my parents.

At some point in the future I’m hoping my location will be somewhat more exciting and a hell of a lot bigger than this little suburbia I call home. I absolutely love traveling and seeing new places, and getting away for long periods of time. City life, in particular, is very appealing to me because of the intense cultural and social experience. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be in New York City, in a loft somewhere in lower Chelsea.

I play varsity tennis/badminton, and I’m on my school’s literary/art magazine staff. My friend Ali say I’m an extrovert, but that probably means I have a weird, obnoxious laugh. Haha.

I like being with friends, my boyfriend, going to parties, trying new things, taking photographs, making short films, summer, shopping at flea markets, vintage anything, aviator sunglasses, mimicking accents, Urban Outfitters, French cinema, Wes Anderson movies, and getting lost in the city. The beauty of blogging is that you’re free to be as random as hell. And that suits me just fine.

This is where I like to keep track of my ideas, interests, and opinions. I let very few people into my life, but once you’re in, it’s for keeps. I’ve been transitioning a lot lately, trying to deal with the world, school, and most importantly, myself, trying to figure out who I am and what I’m gonna do with my life. I figure that sooner or later, I’ll become who I’m supposed to be.
